Renewable Energy Generation

The dry part of the dyke is used for the installation of a Nearshore Wind farm and a Solar PV farm, while the reservoir is used for a Floating PV farm. The Nearshore Wind farm combines the advantages of onshore wind (easier installation) and offshore wind (better wind conditions). The PV farm takes advantage of better sun conditions at sea and the reflection from the water surface, and the Floating PV has the benefits from the cooling effect of the water surface. Both PV and Wind uses the Pumped Hydro function to balance its output. The generated wind and PV power is also used for powering the Aquaculture operations (and other functions at a later stage, such as desalination etc.).
